台湾生まれニュージーランド育ちのオーナーが札幌でカフェバーを新装オープンしました。母国語である中国語はもちろん、英語、日本語を巧みに操るオーナーに会いに日本人のお客様以外にも留学生や海外からの旅行者も集うお店です。

There is a newly furnished café bar, CITY OASIS, now open in Sapporo. The owner was born in Taiwan and raised in New Zealand. On top on his mother tongue, Mandarin, he can also fluently speak English and Japanese. Not only Japanese, CITY OASIS allows people of all background, such as exchange students and travelers, to gather for a relaxing time.

CITY OASISの設計は、居抜きの店舗を実測することからはじまりました。既存のお店の平面的なレイアウトは一切変えず、塗装や木工造作、什器の一部入れ替えのみで、新しいお店に生まれ変わらせるというプロジェクトでした。 クロスをランダムに破り、その上に塗装をすることで、アンティークなテクスチャーを表現したり、ビニルの床をはがして下地を仕上げにしました。工夫を凝らして現場でアイディアを踏襲していくことで、既存店舗とは全く異なるお店に生まれ変わりました。 また、オーナーも工事に参加していただき、楽しい現場でした。その雰囲気をそのままに、楽しいお店の完成です。

The design of CITY OASIS was based on a vacant café. The project concept was not to change any of the layout, and only by repainting, adding woodworks and partially changing the furniture, to make it into a new and different café. Making an existing shop into a completely different one requires serious consideration and deep search for ideas, and most important of all, the execution. By randomly ripping off pieces of wallpaper and painting over it, also by removing the vinyl floor board to expose the concrete subfloor creates an antique texture and sense of refinement. Furthermore, the owner himself joined the construction work, and it was an enjoyable renovation experience. With that atmosphere, a lively yet refined shop was complete.
